Longman Nigeria Plc set to rebrand under a new name - Learn Africa Plc.

Longman Nigeria Plc, a leading book-publishing company in Nigeria, is set to rebrand under a new name — Learn Africa Plc.

According to the Chairman of the company, Chief Emeke Iwerebon, “the company is now poised to commence its branding and business repositioning exercise, which will transform it into a learning resource company and expand the scope of its business beyond publishing.”

The unveiling of the new brand, which will hold on February 16, will be attended by education experts across the country, as well as authors, investors and top government functionaries.

The event will also aford the company the opportunity of unfolding plans that would positively impact the education sector.

Speaking on the business plans of Learn Africa Plc, the Managing Director, Mr.Fred Ijewere, said the company would soon launch the Learn Africa Foundation, with core responsibility of providing support in developing human capital and expanding educational opportunities for the under-privileged.

Fred Ijewere stated that the event would also afford the company the opportunity of presenting new Learn Africa’s titles in areas such as Mathematics and creative writing.

Other plans of the company, according to him, are introduction of an online portal, where Learn Africa books could be accessed and read, as well as a platform for online purchases to reduce the risk of carrying cash around.

It would be recalled that earlier in 2011, Pearson Plc and its Nigerian subsidiary, Longman Nigeria Plc, had mutually agreed to pursue the opportunities in the country’s education sector as separate organisations, a decision that led to Pearson’s divestment from the company. The process of divestment is still on.

Learn Africa Plc has the vision of becoming a leading learning resource company, admired for its products, people, partnerships and performance, Ijewere said.
