National Engineering Services Pakistan Limited (Nespak) in joint venture with H. P. Gauff Ingenieure GMBH & Co. Germany has won engineering supervision of Obudu Dam Rehabilitation work in Nigeria.
According to the spokesperson of Nespak, Obudu dam is in Cross River State in the south east of Nigeria. It is an Earth-fill structure with a height of 18m, total crest length of 425m and storage capacity of 4.2 million cubic meters. It is a multipurpose dam and was commissioned in 1999 for use in farm irrigation, fishing, potable water supply and also for recreational and tourism purposes. Nespak which is the largest Architectural and Engineering Consultancy firm of Pakistan operates nationally and internationally. It has office in six countries and has worked in more than 36 countries.
The winning of this project in international competition shows Nespak’s standing internationally and is consistent with its policy of expanding business overseas. Good management practices and high technical expertise have made Nespak the only Government owned private enterprise showing remarkable profits, especially in the last few years.

The Nigerian Federal Government secured N1.16 billion loan from the World Bank for this project. The rehabilitation would enable the Cross River state government to carry out its regional urban water supply project that would cover four communities in the state.
